What do you need?

  • A Wi-Fi equipped computer running macOS (we’re using version 10.13 in this manual).
  • A UM student or employee account.

Please consult the “Frequently Asked Questions” at the end of the manual in case you encounter problems using the manual or the service.



Step 1: Open the Wi-Fi menu

  • Click on the Wi-Fi icon in the upper right corner of your display;
  • Select the “UMnet” network.

Step 2: Enter your login credentials

If you’re a student, your username is: your student number followed by ““.

If you’re an employee, your username is: your user name followed by ““.
For employees this is the username which you use to log in to the computer.

Your password is the same password you use to log on to other UM services.

Step 3 : Accept the certificate

  • Click on “Continue” to accept the certificate.

Step 4: Enter your computer password

  • You may need to enter your computer password after clicking “Continue”;
  • Click on “Update Settings” to proceed.

Step 5: Connection established

  • You’re connected!

Frequently Asked Questions

I don’t see the “UMnet” network in the Wi-Fi menu? “UMnet” is a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network. Your computer likely does not support this type of network.
However, the “eduroam” network should be visible. You can still connect to the “eduroam” network using the same steps described above.
I can’t connect to either ”eduroam” or ”UMnet” and I have already deleted the networks in my wifi settings and connected again. Go to System Preferences click Profiles. If it lists ”eduroam” and/or ”UMnet”, click- to remove these profiles and click Apply. Enter your laptop password to confirm this change.
