Exchange Mail on Android

This manual helps you setting up your Maastricht University mailbox using Exchange protocol on the Android operating system.

What do you need?

  • An active internet connection
  • A device running Android
  • The application “Email” installed

Please consult the “Frequently Asked Questions” at the end of the manual in case you encounter problems in using the manual or the service.


Step 1: Open the app Email

  • Open the app “Email


Step 2: Open the manual setup screen

  • Click on “Manual Setup
Step 3:

  • Click on “Microsoft Exchange Activesync
Step 4: Configure your account

  • Domain\username: type in your username preceeded with “unimaas\“:
        • (e.g. employees: unimaas\name.surname)
        • (e.g. students; unimaas\i-number)
  • Exchange Server: Type in “
  • Use secure connection (SSL): Please check this box
  • Use client certificate: Leave this box unchecked


  • Click “Next



Step 5:

  • Click on “Ok
Step 6:

  • Click on “Ok
Step 7:

  • Choose all settings according to your likings. If you are not sure what some settings do please keep the default value.
  • Click “Next
Step 8 Accepting security features:

  • Please click “Activate“.
Step 9:Your account has been set up.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I add a second account to my mail app? You can also add new Email accounts by using the Settings app. Obey these directions:

  1. Start the Settings app.

    It’s found in the Apps drawer; touch the Apps icon on the Home screen to view the Apps drawer.

  2. In the Accounts area, choose Add Account.

    On some Samsung tablets, touch the General tab and then choose the Accounts item. The Add Account command is found on the right side of the screen, near the bottom of the account list.

  3. Select the type of e-mail account you want to add.
